How You Can Keep The Enemy From Stealing Prophetic Words Spoken Over Your Life

The Key Is Co-Laboring and Partnering With God

For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to giveyou a future and a hope.  Jeremiah 29:11 (NLT

God absolutely has a plan for our lives. The enemy is always trying to interrupt that plan and steal the promises and prophetic words spoken over us.

There are keys to how you can keep the enemy from stealing the prophetic words that are meant for you.

In Chapter Four of the Gospel of Luke, Verses 1-20, Jesus tells a parable about a farmer who sowed seed and how it was eaten, choked out and burned by the sun.

This scripture is talking about “The Word or Good News” here. However, I believe it also applies to Words and promises we receive from God over our lives.

I can’t count the times I’ve received a promise, prophetic word or confirmation from God and rejoiced!  Only to have it immediately stolen from me by Satan planting doubt and unbelief in my heart and mind as he whispers in my ear like he did Eve, “Did God really say?… or I’ve received the word with joy and claimed it for a brief time, but as soon as problems and trials arise – or God’s timing has not been my timing, I begin to think the word must not have been for me and let it die or wilt beneath the heat of adversity or delay.  I’ve often simply been sidetracked away from the promise of God by worry – or the lure of wealth and the desire for other things.

Later, I cry out, “But Lord, what about that word you gave me – what about your promise?”

Here’s what I’ve learned in the process…

We often have responsibility in Prophetic Words and Promises  given to us, through our Partnership & Participation;

As part of that Partnership we must Participate by:

  • Aligning ourselves with His plan & purpose.
  • Agreeing with what He says about us and to us.  We cannot allow the lies of the enemy to cause doubt to spring up in our lives and choke out the Word of God.  If we allow this to happen instead of partnering with God and truth, we are in essence partnering with Satan and lies. Remember the enemy comes to kill, steal & destroy.  We must not agree with a thief & liar.
  • Acting  Some words and promises require action on our part. We participate by doing our part through Co-laboring with Christ. Ask the Lord, “What is my part in this Lord? What am I supposed to be doing?”  If He says to simply Be still, then Be Still.  However, if He gives instruction then follow that wholly.

The following were given words and promises and then had to act on them

Abraham had to leave his home and the land of his family and go…

And then when after years of delay & waiting – he finally received the son of promise, God instructed,

Take your son, your only son..”

To Moses God said,

Stretch forth thy rod…”

And to Joshua at Jericho…

”March seven times around…”

Moses and the children of Israel received a word about the promised land.  God had given the word that He would take them to a land that flowed with milk & honey. He had issued a promise…yet, an entire generation perished in the wilderness without entering in.

Was God slack concerning HIS promise?  NO! Of course He wasn’t!

The children of Israel partnered with doubt rather than aligning themselves with God and His faithfulness, and began murmuring and complaining.

This kept them from the promise!   However, their offspring entered in.

I can’t really judge them on this. I wonder how much time I’ve wasted wandering around in the desert, as I journeyed through on my way to the promise. Distracted by the sand, complaining about the heat, wondering if I really heard from God at all or  if there even is a promised land – and if there is would God actually take me to it?  Why am I in the desert anyway? Why didn’t I just get to go straight to the promise?

Unfortunately, in my distraction and frustration I too often fail to notice the streams in the desert (Isaiah 35:6), He places there for me as reminder of His promise – that He will make the crooked paths straight (Isaiah 42:16).

Ultimately it comes down to our reception – and – partnering with Him!

Whether that partnership means simply waiting and trusting, believing that He will perform what He said He would, or if it’s co-laboring by following instruction and acting upon His word.

Either way, I pray that I can be like Mary, who as a young teen, when told by the Angel that she would give birth to the Messiah said, “Be it unto me, according to thy word!”

Let’s determine in our hearts to partner with God on His promises and not allow the enemy to steal one more from us or let the cares and worries of this life choke them out.  If you know my friend that you have a Word from God,  Align yourself with it, Agree with it & Act on it.  Hold onto HIS promise for you!

His ways are not our ways.

His timing is not our timing.

But our God is Faithful & True!
